Senior Citizen Projects

Ward wise Networking Initiatives for Care of the Elderly in Mumbai”
(Project supported by JRD Tata Trust)
During the year under report, networking activities were concentrated in five wards of the city –‘F’, ‘G’, ‘K’, ‘P’ and ‘T’; reaching out to around 110 organizations and associations. Through regular meetings and interactions, the Family Welfare Agency has been trying to bring together these groups to work for a common cause; that of developing services for the elderly in their respective wards.

Holistic Health Care for Senior Citizens
Under this programme a large number of senior citizens have benefited through the medical check-ups, pathological testing at concessional rates and consultations with doctors. Seniors also availed of yoga and physiotherapy, counseling and outings and participated in certain functions which were organized for their benefit. Efforts are being made to create awareness of the services available to all senior citizens living in the neighbourhood.

Day Care Centre for Senior Citizens
(A BCPT – Sir Dorabji Tata Trust Fund Project)
Around thirty under-privileged senior women citizens whose ages ranged from 60-83 years have become regular members of the centre. They spend a few hours there daily; doing exercises, participating in educative talks, going for outings and getting their medical needs attended through the centre.

Multi Service Centre for Senior Citizens
(A BCPT – Sir Dorabji Tata Trust Fund Project)
The multi service centre offers case work and holds support group meetings, works with families wherever required, participates in networking with other organizations in the ward and operates a medical outreach programme in specific areas for ill, home bound elderly, in partnership with the LTMG (Sion) Hospital team of doctors. Around 400 plus senior citizens have benefited through the programmes.
